Life often consumes us instead of the other way around. Lately things have just been piling up and overwhelming me to the point that it has been hard to appreciate the small things in life. In the past few days though, I have had quite a few reminders from different people and the universe herself to do just that, Take time out to smell the flowers. Today my water was turned off, yup, I didn’t pay the bill. No worries, it will be back on tomorrow.
Nick and I both needed a shower to wash our selves of the germs that we were holding from the plague that cursed us over the last few days. Off we went to my Mama’s house to shower and then soak up some sunshine in her backyard. While we were there, Nick dug in the dirt and brought me several little bugs that he found. One would be a grub. The white puffy cream filled ones, at least that is what they were referred to as in the Lion King. next he brought me a snake, no, not a real snake, it was an Earth worm, and he has always called them snakes. He pulled the poor guy in half and told me that he then had two snakes. Boys.
Mom and I both sat in the sunshine for a few hours while Nick found bugs and played with Bella ( Mom’s mini poodle ). We listened to the wind blow through the leaves in the trees and to all kinds of birds, I spotted a beautiful robin that seemed to be watching us as well. The sunshine felt so good on my skin, especially after being holed up in the house all week long, due to crappy weather and of course the plague. I took my shirt off while I sat in her backyard, she has a wonderful privacy fence, ahhh, privacy on one’s own property surely is something that should NOT be taken for granted if you have it. The sun was my best friend today, he always knows just how to make me feel better, good old vitamin D.
Needless to say, this was the simplest of days that we I have had in a very long time and it was the most beautiful as well. I was able to just simply be today and soak up the sun. Thank you Universe, for your reminders, to take the time to smell the flowers.

That was a wonderful idea and I’m glad all of you got to enjoy the sunshine. Worms…wonderful creatures and I’m glad he got to explore.
There’s nothing like a visit to your mom’s house to help you slow down and remember what it’s like to just “be.”
