THE ROAD TO ME

The little things that make me feel warm and fuzzy inside. May 26, 2010

Started the day off with an Iced Caramel Machiatto – upside down, skim milk, and extra extra caramel, just the way I like it – hand delivered by none other then my lovely bro – Dustin. Thanks brother. <3

Mom called me around 11am and asked if I would like to go visit my Grandparents( 86 and 90 years old ) with her and of course I accepted the offer. I love visiting with them and Nick always has a good time as well. I consider myself very blessed to have them both in my life and they truly are quite amazing people and always full of inspiration for me.

On our way to Salisbury, which is where they live, about 30 mins away from where I live, we stopped by the mall to get my eyebrows threaded. If you have never experienced this before and you either tweeze or wax, then you are missing out. No hot wax, no burns, no chemicals, no tweezing, no re growth for about 3 weeks and no pain. In my opinion there is just no other way to go.

So here we are walking through Macy’s and as I go past all of the make up counters, I stop at Lancome and ask for a few samples. Normally they just say yes and hand you an few or say no if they don’t have any. This time they sat me down and found a perfect match foundation that was nice and lightweight and also told me that I needed to start exfoliating if I wanted to get rid of the blackheads and I was also given a nice moisturizer to use at bedtime. Thank You Tommy at Lancome for hooking me up today. I will let you know how the products work out and if the blackheads diminish then I will certainly be back.

Next stop was the eye brow threading. My Mom went and played in the play area while I was threaded by a most lovely Indian woman who remembered me and she did a fantastic job as usual. Takes about 10 minutes and the price is $10.00 and every penny is worth it. I have to give her much due credit. My eyebrows aren’t easy to work with, I have a nice scar on my left eyebrow that is very hard to disguise and sure enough, my eyebrows are even and the scar doesn’t show. They look fab!

Next stop – Home Depot to get flowers for the GP’s. Mom picked a nice selection of purples, pale yellows, and some white. she planted them on their porch in those hang over the rail type potters. They brightened the place up and put a smile on the GP’s faces.

My Grandfather, I refer to him as Chief, was born with Polio and well, he rides in one of the scooters. My son adores it and he scares the heck out of me anytime he hops on for a ride. He likes to drive and when his little hands touch the buttons, the scoooter shoots across the floor and is stopped just in time to not run one of us over. He had a time out and a lecture and then was back on again after a few moments of “I need a nap” tears.

We stayed for a good while, maybe 3 hours and while I was there my Grammie let me order some Lush products for my upcoming birthday   ( June 9 ). I will add those to the lush page when I get a chance. Exciting!! I love Lush. Thanks Grammie.<3

On our way home we stopped by Accurate Optical because I needed a new pair of glasses, mine are broken and not repairable. I haven’t been able drive at night or see much of anything without the squinting – so bad, causes wrinkles. So I am rather proud of myself. I spend way too much time picking out anything. I am a Gemini and I will spend 10 minutes deciding which orange juice to buy at the grocery store. Anyhow, I only spent 5 minutes picking them out, glasses should take longer to pick out then OJ, right. The very first pair I picked up are the ones  I wound up purchasing … I did try on 3 others, but  these are the best!!!

I don’t know if you can see this, but, they have little stars all over the sides and a little moon sliver too. I will take a better picture of them for you to see once I pick them up tomorrow. Yay! I will be able to see again and in awesome Astro glasses.

The little things in life make me so happy.

So here I am typing away when I need to be upstairs in my bed snoozing. Off I go after a lovely day shared with family and wonderful little things to make V smile and feel good inside.

V, I love your positivity. You are such a sunnyside-up person.

I am totally going to check on the threading, by the way. A lot of my Pakistani friends get it done and they rave about it.

Wow..what a nice day you had! I never heard of threading and it sounds cool…nice glasses too! How sweet little one driving the scooter..as long as I’m not in front of them. I’m glad you had fun:)

  4. Kozmique Says:

I’ve heard of threading, but I admit I am a little skittish about letting other people decide what my eyebrows should look like. I dig your new astro specs!

  5. Casey Says:

What is the difference between threading and waxing? Hmm, I’ll have to go google lol I didn’t know makeup counters give out free samples!!
