THE ROAD TO ME

Essential oil’s May 19, 2010

Some of the EO’s I own minus a few of them

I have been using them more and more over the last year. I ordered a few from doTerra. I love this company. I have been putting a little bit of thought into signing up with them to be a distributor. Check them out if you haven’t already. I’m not sure if I would have enough business to make any real $$$ with them but I do know that the discount on their oil’s would be worth it to me alone. I would love to buy them all up. I am currently using -

Wild orange is an unpretentious essential oil, used in aromatherapy to create the feeling of happiness and warmth, while calming nervous digestive problems.

I put it in my water daily. I drink about 8 glasses of water a day, yes, the recommended amount and I add a drop to each glass I drink, usually. Sometimes I will add lemon instead and then other times I will use both. This is a great way to ingest the oils and they both have wonderful healing properties – Wild orange is one of the most powerful and aromatic of the essential oils.  It is excellent for disinfecting and killing fungus and pathogens.  It has very effective actions against colds and flu, and is highly recommended for use during their early stages.Wild orange also supports the elimination toxins from the body, while stimulating the lymphatic system. It can be both energizing and uplifting and sedative.  It does this by instilling feelings of peace.  It can be used in the treatment of anorexia. Wild orange’s main constituent, limonene, has powerful anti-cancer activity, suggesting that this oil might be effective as an anti-cancer agent. It also supports collagen formation in the skin.

Another one of their products that I love is their Balance blend – Everyone experiences moments of disconnectedness or anxiety. The warm, woody aroma of Balance, dōTERRA’s grounding blend, creates a sense of calm and well-being. We perfectly blend spruce, rosewood, frankincense and blue tansy to offer an enticing fragrance which promotes tranquility and a sense of balance. For aromatic or topical use.

I mainly love the scent of this blend and usually put it on everyday along with a few others that I like to wear. It also helps Alexia to mellow out when her ADD is getting out of hand. I’ve thought about putting this on her in the morning before school and checking in with her to see if she notices a difference, if and when I decide to try that out, I will let you know how it goes.

I am going to try to use EO’s in my everyday life and do my best to use them to treat minor health ailments. I currently have Lavender, Eucalyptus, Clary Sage, Frankincense, and Tea Tree. I feel like I left something out, well, yes, I have the wild orange and the lemon from doTerra, but I still feel like I am leaving something out. Hmm…..

Anyhow, I put Lavender on the bottom’s of Alexia and Nick’s feet each night at bedtime and it helps to calm them down so they are able to fall fast asleep and stay that way. If I forget to put it on Alexia, she will remind me. I like to burn it in an oil burner in the evenings as well. It really does calm me down and the children as well. I also have some spring water that I added a few drops to and put into a hydrosol spray bottle and I like top spray my sheets and pillow before bedtime. Ahhh….

This winter when we all had frequent colds and when spring hit as well with the sinus problems, I seemed to use a lot of Eucalyptus oil. Before I got into the EO’s I would be reaching for all kinds of cold medicines and yeah, they work for a bit and then not so much, they are expensive and who knows what those funky un earthly ingredients are doing to my kids and I. So I would boil a huge pot of water on the stove and then pour it into a nice big bowl and add about 4 drops of Eucalyptus oil to the water, cover my head with a towel and close my eyes and breathe in the steam for a good 5-10 minutes, it felt wonderful and worked incredibly well too. Not only did I do this but I used it for the kids too. Nickolas not so much in this manner, for him I would add a little bit of Eucalyptus to a little bit of a carrier oil, and anything you have on hand is fine, olive is usually what I have, and I would rub it on his chest. I think adding this to a humidifier would also work well. You can put a few drops on a tissue and even add a drop of lemon to the tissue as well. Always helps to open you up.

I haven’t really used the other EO’s much, I need to find a good purpose for them and when I do, I will be sure to update.

Tell me about the oil’s that you use in your home.

I also use wild orange…patchouli, rosemary, TTO, lavender…I scent our body soap with the patchouli (castille soap) put a couple of drops of lavender in bath water with some epsom salts for the kids. I use the TTO in anything I want to disinfect, and the rosemary I use in my hair with a carrier oil to get rid of scalp itchies. EO’s are SO important in our lives…it’s a shame a lot of people don’t know about them.

It is a shame. Wouldn’t it be cool to open an apothecary locally. I have thought about it before, and it really isn’t a bad idea. It could offer custom blends …
